The American Society of Picture Professionals, Inc. (ASPP) is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (6) corporation. Incorporated in 1969, ASPP is uniquely positioned to create forums for multi-disciplinary discussions on the ever-evolving photography industry. The association has maintained its balance of members drawn from the whole spectrum of the business, from photo researchers and editors, agency personnel, photographers, licensing managers, archivists and publishers to designers and teachers. Through our regional chapters, national programs, quarterly magazine and informative website, ASPP provides an open exchange of information on industry ethics and standards, business practices, and the needs created by new technology and ideas.
Membership: Our membership includes buyers, editors and researchers who collectively license millions of images each year for a variety of publishers and media companies including National Geographic, Discovery, Time Warner, Scholastic, Smithsonian, Pearson, AOL and Readers Digest. Our creators are photographers, journalists, videographers and filmmakers covering every conceivable subject. ASPP’s licensing and content distribution members represent nearly all major stock agencies as well as historical and specialty libraries and collections.

Chapters: We have five main chapter regions and membership is roughly divided as follows:
- New York = 34%
- West = 24%
- DC/South = 20%

- New England = 8%
City hubs include Boston, Manhattan, Washington DC, Chicago, Minneapolis, Seattle and Los Angeles, with small groups in Miami, Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Portland and San Francisco.
Publications: ASPP has shown a long-standing commitment to enhancing the art of visual content. The ASPP’s quarterly magazine, The Picture Professional, in both print and digital editions, distributes visual works and news relevant to our members and the imaging community. Issues are published at the end of March, June, September and December each year. Our combined circulation is approximately 5,000. Each edition is viewed by major publishing and media organizations and distributed at photo events, educational programs, galleries, labs, equipment shops, art schools and other places where image professional gather.
ASPP’s monthly newsletter is distributed by email to a list of nearly 5,000 subscribers. The format has been redesigned for 2013 and includes announcements, upcoming events, new members and a wrap-up of news items from the eNews blog.
Online Presence: ASPP.com is undergoing a major relaunch in 2013. Sponsors and advertisers will receive some of the first opportunities to brand various features on our website and Internet channels to reach the people they want to reach with their message. Examples of these opportunities include:
